We love caring for the oral health of entire families. We start seeing children as early as 3 years old.

As a father of two, Dr. Hancock is great with children, and especially loves treating them. Our entire staff enjoys working with children, and we make an effort to get kids feeling relaxed and at ease in our office. We make them feel comfortable when coming in to get their dental treatment done, and we give them fun prizes when they have practiced good home care, or when they have completed their routine checkups and cleanings.

Your child’s first visit

peds

Dr. Hancock recommends that you bring your child in for their first visit by age three. This is typically when cavities can start to form because of a lack of proper brushing and flossing techniques. Early detection of cavities is important because it can prevent the need for extensive dental work to be done in the future.

During their first visit, Dr. Hancock will give a brief oral exam and check for any problems such as cavities or bite alignment issues. After the oral exam, one of our experienced hygienists will quickly clean their teeth and give them good home care instructions on how to brush and floss their teeth. When they are all done with their exam and cleaning, we give them a fun prize and send them on their way.

We make children feel
comfortable at our office

Dr. Hancock is very gentle and takes his time to make sure that your child is at ease when doing exams or procedures. Our goal is to make your child feel welcomed and at home when they are here, this way they will not have anxiety about going to the dentist’s office, but actually look forward to coming back in the future. We use simple language to teach them all the basics of dental health and explain how to maintain good oral hygiene on their own.

Preventive Dental Care

Research has shown that children who learn how to take care of their teeth properly at a young age will have better lifelong dental health. Our practice gives special attention to young children, and we can help your kids maintain optimum oral health for their entire life. Preventive measures such as using dental sealants is a great solution for keeping your child’s teeth in good condition.

Patient Education:

prevent

Our gentle hygienists will clean your child’s teeth while educating them on their oral health. We also use models of teeth and toothbrushes to show your kids how to brush and floss with proper home care techniques.

Routine Checkups and Cleanings:

Regular cleanings are performed by our experienced hygienists, who also provide instruction on how to properly brush and floss at home. Dr. Hancock will do a normal oral exam each time you bring your child back, making sure that everything is developing as normal. If any problems arise he will be sure to take care of them.

Ultrasonic Scalers:

sonic

Our hygienists use ultrasonic scalers to quickly and efficiently clean your child’s teeth. The ultrasonic scalers emit high-frequency sound waves that break down hard stains (tartar) and cleans the gums deeply, preventing gum disease from developing.

Sealants:

Sealants protect teeth from cavities and tooth decay by sealing any crevices where food could potentially get caught. Sealants are especially useful for children when their own brushing techniques are not adequately removing food particles from the tooth surface.

Digital X-rays:

Digital X-rays use less radiation than conventional X-rays. Digital X-rays also allow Dr. Hancock to find any problem areas in the teeth such as cavities or root canal infections.
